Tennis

Tennis is a racquet sport typically played between two players (singles) or two teams of two players each (doubles). The objective of the game is to hit a ball over a net and into the opponent’s court in such a way that they are unable to return it effectively. The court is rectangular and divided by a net, with each side having a baseline and sidelines, and it can be played on various surfaces, including grass, clay, and hard courts.

Players use a tennis racquet to strike the tennis ball, which is usually felt-covered and made of rubber. The game is played in sets, with players scoring points through a system that includes games and sets. Points are won when the opponent fails to return the ball within the designated boundaries.

Tennis is governed by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and has a rich history, with major tournaments like Wimbledon, the US Open, the French Open, and the Australian Open being part of the Grand Slam series. The sport is recognized for its physical demands, strategy, and mental toughness, and it can be played at both recreational and competitive levels.
