Radicalization

Radicalization refers to the process by which an individual or group adopts extreme political, social, or religious ideologies, often leading to the rejection of mainstream beliefs and values. This transformation can occur through various pathways, including exposure to radical ideas, social influences, or personal experiences that create a sense of grievance or injustice. Radicalization often involves a shift towards more aggressive or violent methods of expressing beliefs, particularly in contexts where individuals feel marginalized or disenfranchised. The phenomenon is frequently associated with terrorism or extremist movements but can apply to a wide range of ideologies across the political spectrum. It emphasizes how individuals can become increasingly committed to a particular worldview, sometimes resulting in societal implications or threats to public safety.
