Tennis

Tennis is a racket sport that can be played individually against a single opponent or between two teams of two players each (doubles). The objective is to hit a small, felt-covered rubber ball over a net into the opponent’s court, aiming to make the ball bounce in such a way that the opponent cannot return it successfully. The game is played on a rectangular court, which can be made of grass, clay, or hard surface, and is divided by a net in the middle. Players score points by winning rallies, which occur when the ball is in play. The scoring system in tennis is unique, typically progressing from points (0, 15, 30, 40) to games, sets, and ultimately matches. Tennis is governed by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and has a rich history, with major tournaments such as the Grand Slam events including the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open. The sport emphasizes both physical skills, including agility and coordination, and mental strategy.
